About Us
Sunderland Empire Theatre Trust are the official lease holders of the beautiful Edwardian theatre Sunderland Empire, which is owned by Sunderland City Council and run by Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG). The Trust gives an independent overview, scrutiny, influence and challenge over the performance and outcomes at the theatre. It also makes recommendations about its operation and development.
A key focus is around fundraising and promoting creative learning in local communities, schools, and under-represented groups. We are dedicated to nurturing creativity, fostering inclusivity, and enriching the cultural fabric of Sunderland through the performing arts.
Sunderland Empire Theatre Trust, Sunderland City Council and ATG's mission is to provide accessible, high-quality performing arts experiences that inspire, educate, and empower individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
